Hotel Cost Split Calculator
Split a hotel bill fairly between friends or family, with personal extras and tip handled automatically.
Split a hotel bill fairly
Group trips to Goa, Manali or a destination wedding usually end with one person paying the hotel and everyone settling up later on UPI. Splitting the total equally is easy, but it is not fair when one friend ordered room service, used the spa or had extra drinks from the minibar. This calculator splits the shared part of the bill equally and adds each person's own extras on top, plus an optional tip for the staff.
Example
Four friends have a hotel bill of ₹18,000 including GST. Riya had a ₹1,200 spa session and Aman had ₹800 from the minibar.
- Shared part = ₹18,000 − ₹2,000 = ₹16,000, so ₹4,000 each
- Riya pays ₹5,200, Aman pays ₹4,800, the other two pay ₹4,000
- A ₹500 tip adds ₹125 to each share
Tips for a smooth split
- Ask for an itemised bill at check-out so room charges, food, laundry and other extras are listed separately.
- Keep the GST in the total. Room GST is 5% for tariffs up to ₹7,500 per night and 18% above that; food bills may carry their own GST. Splitting the final amount keeps it simple.
- Agree on extras early. Decide before the trip whether shared meals are split equally and what counts as a personal extra.
- Round sensibly. Rounding to the nearest ₹10 makes UPI transfers easier; the tool shows any small rounding difference.
- Share it. Copy the result and paste it into your group chat so everyone sees the same numbers.

Frequently asked questions
How do I split a hotel bill when some people ordered extras?
Subtract all personal extras from the total, divide the rest equally among everyone, then add each person's own extras to their share. This calculator does it automatically.
Should the tip be split equally?
Usually yes. A tip for housekeeping or service staff is a shared cost, so this calculator divides it equally among all people.
Can I split a bill for more than 6 people?
Yes. Enter up to 50 people. Personal extras can be added for the first 6 people, and everyone else pays an equal share.
