Pricing for weddings, concerts, festivals and matches
Local events create short, sharp spikes in demand: a big wedding season date, a cricket match, a concert, an exhibition, Durga Puja in Kolkata or New Year in Goa. Hotels that keep their normal rate sell out early to the first guests who book, often at the lowest price of the year relative to demand. Hotels that guess too high sit half empty while neighbours fill. This calculator gives a reasoned starting range and a plan to release rooms at rising prices.
How the suggestion is built
- Demand level sets the uplift range on your normal rate: low 0–10%, medium 10–25%, high 25–50% and sell-out 50–100%. These are planning rules of thumb, not market data, so tune them with your own history.
- Occupancy on the books sets where you sit in the range. Strong pickup means near the top; slow pickup means near the bottom.
- Days to the event guards against panic: in the last week, a slow date moves to the low end of the range, never below your normal rate.
- Compset event rate, if entered, tells you whether you are far below or above the market.
Release rooms in tiers
Rather than one rate for the whole event, sell the first half of your rooms at the bottom of the range, the next 30% at the suggested rate, and the last rooms at the top. Each tier change happens automatically as rooms sell, so early bookers get a fair price and late demand pays more. Add a minimum stay on the peak night when demand is high; the minimum stay calculator helps decide which nights need it.
Checks before you publish
Load the same event rate on every channel to keep parity, close deep OTA promotions for those dates, and decide your cancellation terms; many hotels use a non-refundable or prepaid rate for sell-out events. Watch the GST line too: an event rate above ₹7,500 attracts 18% GST instead of 5%. For regular weekday and weekend changes outside events, use the seasonal pricing calculator.

Frequently asked questions
How much should a hotel increase rates for an event?
It depends on how strong the demand is and how fast you are filling. A small local event may justify 0 to 10%, while a sell-out festival or concert can justify 50% or more. Use your pickup and competitor rates to decide where in the range to sit.
When should I load event rates?
As soon as the event date is confirmed. Early bookers are often the people who know about the event, so loading normal rates and raising them later means the cheapest rooms go first.
Should I use a minimum stay for event dates?
On high and sell-out dates, a 2-night minimum on the peak night is common. It helps fill the night before or after. Remove it if pickup slows in the final days.
