Staff Duty Roster Generator
Build a fair weekly shift roster with rotating weekly offs for every department — print it or share it with the team.
How this hotel duty roster generator works
A weekly duty roster tells every team member when they work, which shift and when their weekly off is. Doing it by hand each week takes time and often leads to the same people getting the night shift or weekend offs. This free staff duty roster generator builds a fair weekly roster for front office, housekeeping, F&B service, kitchen and security in one click.
- One weekly off per person, spread across the week so you are never short on one day. The off days move forward automatically each week, so weekends are shared fairly.
- Morning, Evening and Night shifts — you can rename them, for example "Morning 6 AM – 2 PM". Night cover is added only for the departments you tick.
- Night shift limit — the tool tries not to give anyone more than two nights in a row and does not put someone on a morning shift straight after a night.
- Warnings — if a department does not have enough people to cover every shift on a day, the roster tells you.
Tips for a better hotel roster
- Plan by forecast. Check expected occupancy and arrivals before finalising. Heavy check-out days need more housekeeping in the morning; big arrival days need two people at the front desk in the afternoon.
- Share it early. Publish the roster at least three or four days before the week starts and pin it on the staff notice board and WhatsApp group.
- Keep a record. Save each week's roster. It helps with attendance, overtime and labour inspections.
- Follow the rules. Working hours, weekly rest and overtime are governed by your state's Shops and Establishments rules and labour laws. Check local requirements.

Frequently asked questions
How are weekly offs decided?
Each person gets one weekly off. Offs are spread across the seven days within each department and move forward automatically each week, so everyone gets weekends off in turn.
Can I change the shift timings?
Yes. Type your own labels for the M, E and N shifts, such as Morning 6 AM to 2 PM. The labels appear in the legend of the printed roster.
Can I edit the roster after generating it?
Yes. Download it as a Word file and change any cell, or click Generate again for a different arrangement that follows the same rules.
