Door hangers every hotel room needs

Door hangers are small, but guests use them every day. They protect guest privacy, tell housekeeping when to clean and save the front desk a lot of phone calls. This free hotel door hanger generator creates four printable designs with your hotel name and colour, with cut lines and a round handle hole, two per A4 sheet:

• Do Not Disturb — the most important one. Housekeeping must respect it, but check on the room if the sign stays up for a long time (see below).
• Please Make Up Room — lets guests ask for cleaning at a time that suits them, with a line for a preferred time.
• Breakfast order card — guests tick menu items, quantity and delivery slot and hang it outside at night. It smooths the morning rush for in-room dining.
• Eco towel and linen reuse — guests choose to skip the daily linen change, which saves water, detergent and laundry cost.

How to print and cut

1. Click Print / PDF and choose A4, scale 100% and background graphics on.
2. Print on 250 to 300 gsm card (or print on paper and laminate).
3. Cut along the dashed outline, then cut the dashed slit and circle so the hanger slips over the handle.
4. Double-sided cards are easy: print the Do Not Disturb and Make Up Room sheets back to back.

Housekeeping rules that go with the cards

• Never knock on a door with a Do Not Disturb sign. Note the room in the housekeeping log instead.
• If the sign stays up past a set time (often the afternoon), the duty manager should call the room and, if needed, do a welfare check with a witness — write this into your housekeeping SOPs.
• Collect breakfast cards on the night round and pass them to the kitchen before the cut-off time.
