Why sell packages instead of rooms?
A package bundles the room with meals, experiences and transfers at one price. Guests find it easier to compare and book, and the hotel earns more per stay, fills restaurant covers and sells services such as spa or sightseeing that would otherwise go unused. Packages also let you promote value without cutting the published room rate, which protects rate parity on OTAs. This free resort package builder adds up every cost, applies your markup and GST, and gives you the price per couple and per person, an inclusions list and ready promo text.
How the price is calculated
Example: a 2-night honeymoon package with a ₹4,500 room, ₹800 per person per night meals for 2 guests, plus cake ₹600, candle-light dinner ₹2,500, sightseeing ₹1,800 and transfers ₹1,200. Room ₹9,000 + meals ₹3,200 + inclusions ₹6,100 = ₹18,300 cost. With 20% markup the price before GST is ₹21,960. The room value after markup is ₹5,400 a night, so GST is 5% (₹1,098) and the package sells at ₹23,058 per couple, or ₹11,529 per person.
GST on hotel packages
- Room accommodation with a value up to ₹7,500 per room per night is taxed at 5% without input tax credit; above ₹7,500 it is 18% with input tax credit.
- When a package is sold as one composite supply and the stay is the main part, GST is usually charged at the rate that applies to the room.
- If you sell items separately (for example a spa treatment billed on its own), they may carry their own rates. Check with your CA before printing prices.
Tips for packages that sell
- Give the package a clear name and one hero inclusion — the candle-light dinner, the spa session, the jeep safari.
- Price per couple for honeymoon and weekend packages, and per person for family and group packages.
- Use costs, not menu prices, for inclusions, so the markup is real profit.
- Add terms: validity, blackout dates, extra-person charges and cancellation rules.
Check your base room rate with the hotel room rate calculator, confirm tax with the hotel GST calculator and turn the package into social posts with the hotel offer generator.

Frequently asked questions
How do I price a honeymoon package for my resort?
Add the room cost for all nights, meals for two, and the cost of each inclusion such as cake, candle-light dinner, spa and transfers. Apply your markup, then add GST, and quote the total per couple.
What GST applies to a hotel package in India?
If the package is a composite supply where the stay is the main service, GST is usually charged at the room rate slab: 5% when the room value is up to ₹7,500 per night and 18% above it. Confirm with your CA.
What markup should a resort add on packages?
Many hotels add 15 to 30 percent over cost on packages, depending on demand and season. Make sure the package price still looks good value compared with booking each item separately.
